Cool Dual pattern Moser axles have arrived!

Came home and sitting on the floor was a Moser Engineering box, Whoohoo!
Opened it up and they are beautiful!
I love new parts, especially custom just for me parts.
These GSL-SE axles have a dual bolt pattern, 4x110 and 4x114.5 w/tapped threads to OEM spec. Thanks Billy from Respeed!!!
This way I can still roll my sick Epsilon wheels and buy other after market old school wheels that are out there in 4x114 bolt pattern.
Life is good.

Next is the Respeed R&P steering swap and then the KAAZ 1.5 LSD pn#DBZ1810
I got the 48mm Weber cleaned up and ordered some parts so when the steering upgrade goes in, the 6port 13B with the Weber goes in as well.

Can't wait!

Cool

Thanks, now I have to order the wheel bearings to go on the axles.
I have never installed these type of bearings so it will be something new.
When I was in the Air Force tearing down and building up P&WF100 engines for the F-15C, we would heat the turbine bearing to get it to fit in place(expansion) over the turbine hub.
I think I can use the same idea with a heat gun on the bearing to ease the placement on the axle(Axle stays cold, Bearing hot)

do they use the same bearing/collar setup as stock? if so i have had good luck putting the axle in the freezer for a day or so then using iron pipe of the correct ID to slip over the axle and only push on the inner bearing race, then do the same for the collar. I would not suggest heating the bearing in any way, they are sealed bearings and are packed with grease.

I think you may be right on the sealed bearing question.
Freezing is good, I hope to do it at night in the next week and leave axles in my shop to get nice and cold, put the bearings next to my wood stove to be nice and warm and they should slip on quite nicely.

Good point with the bearing type Issac.

Are they 12A or GSL-SE offset?

I was planning on redrilling my -SE/FC stuff to 4 1/4 so I could use dirt-cheap Mustang or Focus wheels. Or 100mm so I could use the same wheels as my VW Especially ZX2 "swirlies" since they have rotor shapes in the middle!

make sure you buy new retaining collars they are only $4 or so. Normally you have to cut the old ones off so you buy new ones anyway. How much did those axles run you, if you dont mind my asking?

I was looking at the Shop manual and saw the collars, thanks Issac.
$314 shipped was the cost.

Yes Adrian, you got dibs on my old DIY Rack and Pinion. $100

So I got my bearings and collars, had to reuse the old spacers, had to cut the old bearings and collars off to get the spacers.

Got to work on my -se housing, the former idiot or somebody had rewelded the passenger side upper link mount to the housing, it looked like they were on crack with a blindfold on when doing the weld, it was bad!
I got a spare housing that Adrian left at my place when he bent it on curb...
Gonna cut the upper link bracket off of that and make a jig to get the correct placement....jeez this really slows me down.
On top of all that my rearend on my car finnally gave up the ghost last night on my way to work, made back home barely....never heard such a sound from a rearend.
New sense of urgency now to get the new one welded, primered and painted and installed.

And yes, those axles are kickass. I wish there was some way to do that for the front?

Cool

Well I got the -se housing done today.
Had to cut off the old passenger side upper link, cut a good one off another housing, make a jig for proper alignment, weld, primer and paint.
Busy day.
Pic of the jig is before final alignment, it's crooked.
Paint color is "New Ford Gray" engine paint from Carquest...I'm getting tired of everything under the car being black.

Well I got the new housing installed, calipers cleaned, SS brake lines and EZ bleeders transfered over to the -SE Calipers, and all the upper and lower links cleaned. I don't like dirt and grime...
Tonight I'll put the bearings on, got the axles in the shop fridge cooling down.
Putting the oil seals in the freezer and then installing was perfect, they went in much easier then in the past installs.
I got lot's of new pics just have to wait to get home from work tonight to post them.

Drilled Rotors

6yr old Rotard in training, transferring my rear hard brake line for me.
Other assorted shots of the process.
Will have the rest done tomorrow, too tired from work tonight for pressing bearings.

Well, I've had a set back.
It seems that I ordered GSL offset instead of GSL-SE offset axles.....this means that nothing -SE can be used, Brake rotors, calipers nothing.
Wasted a brand new bearing kit, once you install them they ain't coming off without cutting.
I didn't do a very good job explaining my setup or intentions so now I have to wait for a 2nd pair of -se offset axles so I can get my junk back on the road!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Guess I got time and might take a chance and install my 13b with weber DCOE in while I wait..................999 post!
