Dual Belt Alternator Pulley - Question
Ok,
I have an 84 GSL - 12a motor.
Just yesterday, I managed to replace my stock alternator, with a 91 Alternator.
Took a slight bit of electrical connection fab work, but its putting out the optimal Amperage, and eliminated my "ringing bell noise of death" which was coming from the worn bearings or bushings or something in the dying stock alternator.
Now, seeing that I am running only 1 belt, and am now prone to belt slippage, I have decided I should invest in a Dual Belt Alternator Pulley.
The question is, is there a difference in pulleys? The alternators are the same size, and bolt right up. It is in perfect alignment with my stock belt routing.
Ive noticed some listed on Ebay, which seem to only be listed as 2nd gen pulleys.
Are they all the same? Do I need a specific one now?

The pulleys should fit both alternators.
They are typically slightly larger, and will underdrive the alternator a little, which is good for your brushes anyway.
just one tip: make sure you use two new belts, same brand, preferably same batch. If you don't, you might find it really difficult to tension them properly, with one breaking a common problem.
Best solution is a gilmer drive. But thats more $$$ and you can't run anything else off the crank, like aircon.

the ones I list are the same size as stock, fits SAs, FBs, and FCs - just adds an extra notch for a second alternator belt, hence dual alt belt pulley

if you want a gilmer drive, contact MrGenuis at the forums at www.ausrotary.com.
there is no power to gain as has been said. They will not slip EVER...that is the main point.
As for the wider=more power needed to drive, I'm not sure I agree with that. The same energy from the crank is being transferred, it is just transferred over a greater contact patch = more traction = less slip (compare two widths tyres but with same diameter and weight). If wider=more weight, then yes more power needed to drive because of inertia. Same goes for mucking around with pulley diameter.

BUMP!
Ok, just a quick question. Before I ship $80.00 to the Czech Republic to hIGGI for 2 of those rotor shaped Dual Belt Pulleys....
Has anyone here done business with him before?

Higgi has a lot of satisfied customers and I haven't heard negatives about him, so I would presume it's a safe bet. His pulley costs four times what mine does, but it's fancier - that rotor shape is pretty cool.

I e-mailed Higgi yesterday and he replied to me without hesitation. Nice to see someone respond to my request. I'm about to purchase one of the pulleys from him. I am trusting him to send it to me without hesitation, of course as soon as I do a direct-deposit of the funds.
Thanks and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'll add some pictures after the install.
Silly question. Is there a significant improvement by adding the dual alternator pulley? If so, what kind of improvement(s)?
thanks again.

No, wait. That was the other thing, not the pulley. Sorry.

I got mine, and am very happy with the quality. And Manntis, they are twice as much as your's, unless you are offering a two for the price of one sale! When I bought mine from Higgi they were only $30, glad I bought when I did!
