BC Drone in Rear

Hey Guys

I posted about a month ago, that I had a loud droning noise in the rear I'm wondering if it might be a bearing ? but the sound is only loud when put under power but if I let off the gas and coast it quiets down (not gone just quieter) any ideas I'm assuming most will say its the rear end going ? eeeek

The fact that it's only present under engine load doesn't sound like a wheel bearing; they are generally noisy based on speed or sometimes on sideload while cornering.

If you're sure it's not an exhuast leak, which would be there even if the car's not moving, the obvious candidates are rear U-joint, or differential gear face wear.

Crawl under and inspect your universal joint; make sure there's not slack in rotation & that it cannot be moved laterally in the bearing caps. Much easier to fix a u-joint than a diff.

My car had a groaning rear end when I bought it. Drove it that way for a couple of years, and it was still going strong when I upgraded it to a GSL rear. It might last forever that way, or it could fail tomorrow.

The easiest way is to simply replace the entire rear end. If you don't currently have limited slip and disc rear brakes, then this is a great chance to upgrade. You can usually find complete rear ends for a couple hundred bucks.

If one of my Link bars in the left rear is bent, would that cause the drone as the axle might be off camber?

what do you mean by drone? a improperly setup differential can make some pretty terrible noise under load but quiet down under light or no load.

Its a load noise when under power, Its not bearings I'm sure of that ! best word I could describe it was Droning I changed the diff fluid but that didn't help and thought maybe it was cause the one link bar is bent and has my axle off camber?? I'm lost lol

Maybe you should be asking how that link got bent. A sideways impact (sliding into a curb, perhaps?) could easily cause this, and also damage the bearing in the process... I'd be taking a very close look at that corner of the car.
