Can you please stop calling it a drive shaft, eccentric isn't that hard to spell thank you.... sorry but it's a pet peeve of mine, it's anti-rotary, you might as well be consulting us on cams. That being said if you've had you clutch replaced recently then you should bleed your master cylinder first, after doing this, get in the most awkward position you can imagine underneath your pedals and with a ten mm wrench you can adjust the push-rod(little rod coming off the clutch pedal) witch operates the piston. Adjust it so that its all of the way out and see if you still have a problem. If so your eccentric shaft might be unbalanced or possibly but hopefully not bent.
but when you engage the clutch it makes the noise ? sound's like the throwout bearing to me .when you use the clutch the throw out bearing i placed under a load forceing the bearing into the pressure plate springs releasing the clutch to spin freely if the bearing is dry or bad it will cause a grinding sound (just like the brakes are bad ) and you will only hear it when your idleing down the road it will make less noise ,.

oh yea if its the drive shaft it will make a vibration at any speed , if the u joints are bad they will wobble and cause a ping noise or a clunk when releasing the clutch , and will also vibarate a speeds and will make noise alot if they are really bad it will explode and drop the shaft on the ground.

my universal joints went out. the sound it made was like the wear indicator on brake pads ocillating really fast when i let off the gas. then a sound like the exhaust tapping on the frame when i got on it. under steady cruise it made no sound at all. my bet is on the universal joint. and btw, there was no vibration at any speed. its too simple to pull the driveshaft and check the joints to avoid spending ludicris amounts of money. but its not like we dont do that anyway.

Hes not describing a tapping but a squeal. at a point where no power is applied to the shaft whatsoever but when he depressess the clutch. My money has been and still is on the throwout. I had the exact same problem ended up replacing all my clutch components and the whine went away.
