Lightbulb lights are dimming....

hey guys, ive seached the FAQ for this one but no luck. Here's the problem.....idle is good when totally stopped and not touching anything like brakes or clutch and on coasting...but when i come to a stop by downshifting through the gears, i push in the clutch and apply the brakes near the end and then the car dies. Ive also noticed that when i press on the brake pedal, my dashlights dim, my heater slows down, and my idle drops....hope this helps, thanks

go to you local auto store and have that alternator tested. my bet is that it is going bad and not charging and you are running off just the battery. good luck

Fix your electrical issue first before worrying too much about your idle - check your battery terminals for corrosion, is your alternator doing its job (doesn't sound like it)? I bet you aren't getting over 12V on the gauge? Does car start right up after it stalls?

buy new terminals, install them, and check the alternator. you can also upgrade your wires from or to the battery, most people run a cable from the altrnator to the battery. read this, http://www.nellump.net/peri/epi/gen7Techs/starters.html, it has good information on how to improve your stock set up to optimize its power distribution.

I know this is about starters but read this it has alot to do with electrical problems.

http://www.nellump.net/peri/epi/gen7Techs/starters.html

I had the problem that if I turned everything on in the car, heater stero, headlights ect the battery wouldnt charge. I swapped out the alt. but when I had everything on and turned the turn signal the volt gauge would bounce with the clicking of the turn signal.

I did his extra ground and wire of the alt. bolt to the positive and that went away as well did my battery charging problems.

From what I understand the first gens had a underpowered alt. anyway. Somewhere here there is a tutorial on how to swap it out with a more powerful second gen one.

Yea good advice. Sounds like the alt.

On adding electronics. Use a 1 to 2 farad capacitor connected to a distribution block.
