Driveshaft interchangeability (i searched)

found some posts, but with some conflicting answers. I have an '82, recently blew the driveshaft. I think the yrs i can swap one from are 81-83 only. Is this true? I have a local guy that will give me a good driveshaft out of a 84 GSL, im guessing this wont fit? Thanks.

Im going to say no, and here is why. I looked up driveshafts on mazdatrix.com and the replacement drive shafts they sell are grouped from 79-82 and then a different part number for the one from 83 to 85.

I had a 1980 drive shaft in my 84. The later model 1st gens came with non-changeable u-joints.

Hope this helps...

you can use that one but you have to change the penion flange on the rear end to use it. the flange is a different size on the 83 - 85 cars.

Get the shaft and the flange and you will be good to go.
