driveshaft hitting

drive shaft is hitting the e-brake cable bracket, car has the live axle rear suspension, I replaced or inspected the rear suspension, shocks, springs, bushings, d/s alignment, trailing arms. The d/s hits when going over bumps while ~ 300 lbs are in the car. Been like this since 1990 when I bought it used.

sounds like your tranny mount bushings are missing, or shot, is there a possibility that the transmission crossmember is bent? If the previous owner had played dukes of hazard and caught the tranny crossmember on somthing it could have bent it up enough to rub maybe.

Kenn, thanks for the response. By transmission cross member do you mean the about 7 inch by 2 inch oval metal piece at the transmission's end?

Can I check the mounts with out removing the transmission? Mazdatrix web site just says that the mounts are a good thing to replace while the transmission is out.
