driveline noise revisited

Shaft checked, is okay, new front and rear u-joints. new tires, rims not dented, new struts etc.. 1982 model, automatic, problem is when it gets to 3000 rpm or around 45 mph, a serious vibration and noise starts. it seems as if it is coming from behind and under the stereo. At higher speeds, it still makes noise, but not quite as loud. Shifting into neutral, there is still the noise. Any ideas?

Its where the flywheel would be on a 5 speed car (on the back of the engine. In between the engine and transmission). I dont know how to tell if its ok or not. It was just a wild guess. I dont even know if they can go out.

It *might* be your tranny mount, which is more or less under the stereo area. I had to replace mine to get through inspection -the rubber had delaminated from the bracket. Your manual should tell you exactly where it is. Check it out!
