Drive Shaft Rebuild or interchange ?
Drive Shaft Rebuild or interchange ?
I need a short shaft for my Lotus 7 clone. Do not want to use my
used possibly failture prone old drive shaft and pay to have it shortened.
The 85 ? and later drive shafts have staked ujoints.
I need a new or rebuilt d.s.
Does the 12a drive shaft with the press in U joints fit the 85 13b
trans and diff ?
Does any one know where to get trans, pinion and shaft yokes
that are removable with snap rings so I could have my own
drive shaft built.
thanks

not in SD but here in LA, there are several shops where you can get a custom driveshaft. I always go to "Driveshaft SPecialist" in Asuza, near the 605 and 210. In my old school RX-3 projects, they have extended several FB driveshaft for only $50 including balancing. Now, if yo want a modded driveshaft plus larger/replaceable u-joint, it will cost you $200-$300 but its best to use the 84-85.

Mazdatrix sells driveshafts for all years which have replaceable u-joints

They aren't too expensive considering you're getting a brand new, balanced shaft with replaceable u-joints!
