Drain the fluids?

is it necessary to draina ll the fluids from a car, 9 oil,and tranny fluid etc.when you are pulling it.
my plan is to swap the running engine out of my elctricaly chalenged, slightly rusty 79, into my nice little cali. 79 with an oil leak adn dead tranny.
im hopping to make this as painless as possible. so do i have to drain all the fluids or can the oil and tranny fluid be left in.

Drain. Makes it a little lighter and avoids having too much horrid oil spilling on you and the floor.

When you disconnect the drive line and then tilt the transmission, the gear oil will go everywhere.

Plus since you are doing the swap, why not put in fresh fluid in the new donor car. My guess it probably due anyways.

listen to you're dad. If you can keep it from spilling you don't reallt HAVE to drain it.

i would drain it, it never hurts anything, and if you see any metal shaving in the fluid you know you might be running into a problem before too long. just my 2 cents

So people must post things just to see if somebody is listening.

If you are not going to drain it why are bothering us by asking our opinion.

What a waste of time.
