dosen't like the rain

I have had so issues with my FB dieing in the rain. I did a track day not long ago and it ended up raining witch was alot of fun to drive in but in the 3rd seccion of the day it cut out on me and left me on the side of the track. it had blown the fuseable links. we towed it back tried to figure out what it was and replaced the fuseable links and went back out for the 4th go round and mad it about 2 laps before it dieded with another blown fuseable link.. I spent the next week going over every wire in the car and never did find out what it was. I put new links in again and went to the track on a nice sunny day and it never missed a beat.. I just dread the rain now and considering I will have to race in the rain and knowing the way it has been lately the scca school always seems to be in the rain. so DNFs are bad

The area under the cowl, beneath the left side wiper pivot, tends to rust through. When this happens water runs into the car. The normal starting point for the rust is at a screw end that is covered with putty. If water comes in here it often drips onto the top (back) of the fuse box. Large W/r wire on the back of the fuse box connects directly to one of the fusible links. I'd check there first. Two screws hold the fuse box in place.

To add to that, the void under the cowl drains at the far right and left hand sides between the front fender and body. These drainage areas will fill with leaves and debris. To clean out the lefthand side, the wiper motor needs to be removed then dug out/vacuumed and flushed with water til the water runs clear. The right hand side can be dug out/vacuumed and flushed. Since this is where the HVAC system takes in fresh air, imagine my surprise when suddenly I had my feet soaked while driving during a rain storm. There is a vent tube that runs directly under the steering column. It had filled with water and when it couldn't hold any more, it dumped it's entire load of cold water on my feet. Not fun while cruising at 80 mph in the rain and wondering wtf just happened.

^Exactly. I hope yours doesn't look like this after cleaning out the junk. Old school cars are even worse.

Left side. You can see the black putty in the lower left corner.
The water should drain out the hole in the lower right corner.

Right side was even worse.
