They're sitting on my kitchen table! I'm not sure I can give a review without installing them. I'll hopefully be able to later tonight.... My alternator belt got super loose and started slipping and drained my battery so Ima go get that sorted out, but if its finished charging tonight I can bring it into my garage and install

I'll do it tonight. They look super plush, especially compared to what's on there. They have little orange pins in it as well

 

I bought a set off ebay for the same price. Probably the same vendor. They fit perfectly; however, the seal to the car is very tight and it does require more force to get it to latch all the way. You don't have to slam it or anything, but a slightly harder shut to get the door latched. Just takes a liitle getting used to.

It makes the inside of the car a WHOLE lot quiter! And the a/c actually cools the car down now that there ar e no leaks!

Everyone should upgrade their door seals. This is one of those "I wish I did it sooner" things.........

 

ok so my first rainy day in my new 88 vert and it leaks like mad around the doors.

if i get these metro ones can i just pop em on to the door and problem solved?
also what are the seal called that are on the Front Pillars?

i need it to stop leaking

 

They were a pain in the *** to put in. I tackled the driver's side first.

The tabs all along the bottom and sides match but there seems to be a lot of seal. I have to pull the seal to stretch it enough to fit into the groove, and then pull it backwards and keep doing it. A few times I pulled too hard and a tab came out, so I had to take the seal off and put it back in. Also, a few times after stretching it and sliding it back it would get pulled too hard and a piece and would come out of the seal.

I've never put in other door seals before, but these seem too large.

I got driver's side in and it takes a lot more effort to close and reduces wind noise. (Used to take no effort to slam) Pieces of the top come off constantly so I have to put it back in.

I put it in months ago and I was annoyed enough by the process I put off doing the other.

I tried today and thought I could use some adhesive on the non tabbed areas. It made it harder than it had to be. I need to remove all the residual glue and start off tomorrow.

How easy are the OEM ones to install? If I could do it over I'd not get cheap eBay ones.

I had the ulphostery man put it for me.It works fine no issues.

Well this thread was over a year old until a few days ago, guess it could be made into a good reference thread if people search.

I have the black dragon seals, can't say I've had any problems aside from the fact that the doors are harder to close but that just tells me they're sealing. Had em for almost a year now. Can't say the same for the black dragon window regulators but I guess that stuff is kinda hit and miss.

 

it takes longer to pull the old one off than to put the OEM ones on.

 

These work great. Metro Brand. Although glue can get messy. They seal well due to the material.

Install was easy as taking them off. Just need to massage em a lil to line em up correctly

 

Anyone found a fix for the replacement door seals sticking to the body?
I've been fighting this for a while, and actually ripped the clips out of the new driver side seal (on the front edge) last time I opened the door, after it sat closed for a week.
driving me nuts!

Soak a rag in kerosene and wipe down both the seal and the sealing surface on the body to remove whatever sticky residue you have that's causing the problem.

So, in reading this post over, it looks like the am auto seals are the way to go if you're on a budget (and who isn't?) and the Mazda OEM ones are what you want if you're a purist or rich.

Is that a fair assessment?

 

then just let them dry, and dont coat them with anything?
wax the body or just leave it?

 

Wax the body paint, then add a light coat of vaseline to the seals.

 

Here is something to think of. I'm from Canada And when I was looking the aftermarket ones they were cheaper than oem but once the shipping was added in they were 20 bucks more. Went with oem couldn't be happier.

This is excellent information. Now ordering Mazdatrix replacement seals.

 

I have OEM Mazda seals and they work alright. I ended up getting some universal weatherstripping for added leak protection against the north American rain forest. Best ten bucks I've ever spent. No more droplets creeping down my pillars. Might want to give it a shot bro. Available at any hardware store. About to do my hatch and roof to see if it helps with the fog.

 

DON'T TRY TO USE FC DOOR SEALS IN YOUR 1st gen...

I just attempted and the fc seals are way too wide to seat in the door properly. Whoever said they did it successfully I call bullshit
