Door Seals - Metro LM107

Anybody used these successfully?

Mine just arrived, guaranteed oem fit. The cross-section is a bit larger than the originals, and they don't seem to fit properly when the door is closed. The problem areas are at the rear vertical section and front sloped sections of the window frame, where the seal pops out of the groove due to the tight fit into the door opening. The other areas appear OK. I do have the door adjusted nicely centered and closing to the properly. The instructions do mention the option of using adhesive to hold the seal in place in these areas, but I don't want to make a mess of them if they are destined to be returned to the vendor anyways.

Where did you buy them from? I purchased some from Black Dragon this year. I glued the top with some black trim glue. Make sure you match the right and left roor correctly (one has yellow tabs and the other one has white). Mine closed hard at first, especially the driver's door. However, the rubber became more compressed once broken in and they close just fine now.

I got these from JC Whitney, but the same brand is sold through RockAuto and many other auto parts companies. The manufacturer is Metro Molding, out of Minneapolis.

I believe I have the seals on the correct side, as the instruction sheet shows having the lip of the seal curved inwards towards the body of the vehicle. I'll fiddle with it a bit more tonight, and post up some pics.

sounds like u have the same problem i did with a set i got a while back from: http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Weatherstri...a/RX7/-/-/1984. i didn't like the fit but trimmed them and made do. after a while they started leaking again so i decided cheap isn't always good and got another set from blackdragon. have yet to put them on yet but from looking at them, they will fit over the window frame like the originals did. those from 1aauto just flat aren't made right to fit into the channel on the window frame like they're supposed to.

rxtasy3, that's interesting. Others on this forum had reported good luck with the 1aauto seals. The Metro product looked good, and made in USA I assumed was a good thing. Fitment in the groove around the window frame is not very good though. The seal itself also being larger than stock tends to stick out farther, and gets pulled out of the groove when the door opens.

I just got off the phone with the dealer. They can get the oem part (8871-58-760 RHS, 8871-59-760 LHS) for $71.01 per side, which is a better price than I expected. I'll fiddle with these a bit more, and then return if I can't get them in place properly.

You get what you pay for. I have the cheapies (maybe from ebay I don't
remember) and they are similiar to what your describing but they fixed the
wind noise and leaking issues so I just put up with them. Once they got bedded
in good they stay in the groove pretty well and I didn't use any glue cause I
didn't want to have a mess if I decided to redo them again later.

Thats not a bad price from the dealer, I would have though it would be higher.

I bought some from am-autoparts on ebay. They're the same Metro seals and have the same problem. They don't fit because they're just too big. The profile is probably 50% larger than OEM. I've sent them a message through eBay about it. They say they're made to OEM specifications, but these clearly aren't.

I've given up trying to fit my Metro door seals. I've returned the parts for refund, and have included a piece of the old OEM seal so they can clearly see the difference. I suspect the Metro seal is the correct cross-section for some other brand of vehicle, and they are trying to utilize that same section on other 'similar' applications like our rx's. Even if the seal were glued to stay in the window frame, the seal itself is still far too large to work properly.

I've placed an order at the Mazda dealer and will have stock seals in hand early in the week. I ordered a few other plastic trim bits at the same time.

Thanks for the replies to this thread. Hopefully having the name "Metro LM107 door seal" here will help future searches find this thread. I know it would have saved me some grief
