i dont like the blue at all..... it just dosent match the 1st gen's old school feel......... even if you had a nice set of blue carbuea seats.... it would still look nasty in my opinion... but im not dissing on your craftsmanship.... excelent work... just not my style...

I agree, the blue just doesnt sit right with me. But actually, I have been thinking about doing something similar to this for awhile. My idea was the fabricate a new backboard out of sheet aluminum, cover the top piece in grey headliner fabric to match my interior, and just leave out the whole pocket assembly on the bottom. I thought it would give the car a clean, yet "custom" look.

I bought new backboard at home depot. I think it's called peg board. 1/4" thick.. Then i riveted pegboard to top metal piece..

how did you go about covering them? I'm thinking about doing some custom door panels with speakers in them.

I took old door panel out.. then bought some 1/8" pegboard at home depot for 2.49 ea. Each sheet did one door panel. Then traced old door panel to new pegboard, then riveted new pegboard to top metal piece. traced where the holes go for window crank/door handle..

Real easy..
