door locks messed up

hey i made the discovery that any straight object will turn my door locks. it just has to turn the lip on the end of the lock and the whole thing turns.

This is happeneing on both the driver side and the passenger side.

Has this happnened to anyone before? More importantly how the hell would I go about fixing it?

Well, getting new locks would work!

But, maybe the inside is gummed up at it thinks there is a key in there. Other than that, I have no idea????

probably just worn out... that seems common (in my experience) with older locks...

or as Rotary rev. suggested maybe it's just a little dirty / sticky in there

is it the whole lock body that's turning? 'cause that's a completely different story....

if just the chamber inside is turning, then that's probably just 'cause it's REALLY worn out... but if everything's turning, including the chrome surround on the lock body, then it's because the spring plate in the back has fallen out and is allowing everything to turn at once...

On my 80, I could lock unlock my doors with ANY mazda key, the tumblers in the locks were so wore out... I think it might be time for a new key set man

Yeah, I too am experiencing this problem with my driver side door. I am also able to pull the key out of the ignition, while the car is running. You can get locks through Mazdatrix. The whole set with the column lock is $323. They also have individual door locks for around $50 a piece.
