I use my shop press with a piece of brass to install the new bushings. I use loctite bearing retainer compound on the bushing OD.

So, how many times do you have to open and close a door to wear out the hinge pin or bushings? Were you having difficulty closing the door due to sag or something?

I would imagine corrosion hurries it along. I bet it was rust seazed and opening/closing just
ground it into nothing after some time. I've seen them go bad on other cars, but not often on
7s.

Go open you door a little and try lifting it from the back. The drivers side was the worst. One pin was bent. I have the car down to the shell for re paint/body work. I had the doors off so I figured the extra hour in time to refresh the hinges was worth it.

Yep they are long, heavy doors so its not a surprise really. I suspect since most of these cars
were play things they don't get the wear a DD does, so thats why we see it as less of an issue
normally.

Nice work.

Thanks but, my doors shut solid, smooth and very precise with little to no effort. Something I've always admired about it. Not saying yours didn't need it, and the machinist in me applauds the creative approach and appreciates the detail of your reconstruction.

It's just that since the normal use here is not long duration or high speed, I wouldn't expect a ton of wear and tear. This is the first time I've saw this subject addressed here and its always nice to add fixes to the archives.
