Red face dont drive with a header only

i've been told that a rotary engine burns 400 F hotter than a boinger engine adn much louder. They are right. i got my header/ racing sleeves together yesterday night at 9:00pm went for a rip, i live in rural area, went into town for maybe 45 seconds, 3 cops were searching for me all night. very lucky to still have my license. dont try it, in the end its not funny.

I took my car for a quick drive last night.

Out of the turbo, the dump pipe dumps at the gearbox

My trip to the 1/8th, I got the big idea to make a run with just a header. Took out presilencer (full RB exhaust here) and let it rip. Let's just say loud doesn't describe the car with just a header. People would turn and look when I would start it. People in the bleachers... Far away from me. And right next to the track.

Anyway, I broke a stud on the presilencer, so I decided to leave it off for the ride home and fix it that evening. (Had an autocross the next morning) Well, if I thought the track was bad, I definitely wasn't prepared for the interstate. People passing me would hold their ears. Seriously. Anyway, I relate. How I got home without police intervention is beyond me.

It is kind of fun though. Nascar doesn't get that loud!

Nah mate- he had JUST the header and nothing else. I can vouch for the wicked decibel level that results in. Try it with a bridgeport sometime for total ear destruction.

I ran my peripheral around for about 45 minutes down just a set of streight pipes and ya that is definetely one of the loudest things you could ever hear. I used ear mufs but they would rattle and eventualy they dident do much. But you could here the car probably 5 miles away especialy when i was realy on it. Oh ya and it is a 12a and the 12 does scream a lot louder than the 13b but ya pp12a, streight pipes= pissed off poeple. that was at 3 am.

I made an exhaust dump after the presilencers, right at the collector befor the muffler. It's hooked up to an electric switch on my dash where one of the "dummy" covers was.
(Do a search.)

It's super fun to be obnoxiously loud when you know you can switch it off any time. You tend to get pretty brazen!
I love these fart-can sportin' Hondas that rev as they pull up to the gas pump. As they're filling up, I'm gonna leave. Flick the switch and start it up.
"Yeah big guy. It's me!...Seeya~!"

I had to run mine with only headers down to the exhaust shop.. I COULD NOT BELIEVE how much louder it was then my 350 V8 Van I used to have with only headers. I got many thumbs-down and honks while driving. On the plus side, I got a nice back massage.

Ran it with stock header attached only. Not a good idea.

back when i got my header, i was too cheap to tow it down to the shop to get an exhaust made. So I call them and made an appointment with them. Drove it down there and BAM there was a road block on the way. I idle through and the cop said it's too loud, i told him I have an appoinment at the shop and he told me I CAN GO. I was so happy. I drop it to first, rev it all the way to redline and in 2nd, I saw the pigs in my rear view holding their ears, LOL

until I got my racingbeat system I was running the stock header with a cheap boss turbo muffler (blew out in a hour) bolted to it and then it just dumps out the bottom of the car. It wasn't THAT loud but it was pretty loud.

I used to drive my Ford with open headers on the street. Didn't seem much quieter than the 12A through open headers

Bridge-ports with open headers... yeah those HURT!
