done with the swap now to get it running right

After 5 months i got the car running but not to were it can run on the road. i just fiinished swapping the motor of an 82 into my 79 car, the motor is a stock 82 with a 82 tranny with my 79 carb that worked when the 79 motor was running. after everything was hooked up i i tried to fire it up. at first the car was a having troubles turning over and it would make a wierd vibation noise, im thinking the niose is from the 82 trans bellhouseing rubbing against the frame. but after a hour later we finnally got it start by pulling the choke out all the way and flooring it. when it started it reveved up to 4,000 and then we turned it off, about a couple of mins later we tried it again same way with choke and gas, we had it so it would run at 3500 smoothly but as soon as we would push the choke in about 1/2 inch it would then rev down to 2500 and then just die as if the car was turned off. the man i have been working with seems to think it may be a vacum proble, i have no idea other then i looked at the photos and i found one vacuum not hooked up. we did plug other hoses that we assumed that didnt hook up with the diferent motor to carb. any information for trouble shooting the little vibration that went away at 3,000 rpms or the trouble with the idle, could this be a float problem, i am not the greatest at cars and any information would be appritiated, also i will post photos of the bay on weds if nothign gets going to see if you guys see anythign wrong with hoses and such, thanks i hope the info i have givin you explains it all

well, i say start with checking for vac leaks and calibrating the carb. did you reset the floats before you put it on? you dont always have to, but it's a reassurance. just look in the sight windows and see where the fuel level is at. should be half way.
