Question DASH removal HOW???

basically as the title says, how do I remove the dash? I am doing a complete color swap and would like to NOT have a red dash with blue everything else. Later, on my other car I plan on doing a red to black swap. So, I would really like to figure this out without breaking it, since it is in good shape (rest of interior = toasted). Any/all help appreciated. Thanks,

Ian

it's a serious pain in the butt. make sure you unplug your cluster from the wiring harness.

also you'll need to unbolt the steering column from its brace.

It's not that difficult, just a lot of screws and connectors, etc. As already mentioned, you need a right angle screwdriver.

Iv got 1 bolt holding the dash in and the pick wont come out, Its the 8mm that sits right in behind the top left hand side of the cluster. (right hand drive) I just cant get the bastard, I cant keep the poo brown dash with red interior. Grr. Plus its crackd and buggerd and i dont want to break it more cos its the only 1 i have.

I have a "how-to" dash removal written based on my 80 RX7. Email me off list and I can send you the text file... but do it immediately if interested as I am on the way out of town for a week

I did a how-to on removal for 81-83 dashes. Look at http://milisake.com/dash

Good pictures (I'm biased) and all tools used are listed. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but it is a pain in the butt.

things you need:

-case of beer
-some tools. (pretty sure you have everything you need if you work on your seven) make sure you have a small right angle screw driver or you're gonna be cussin up a storm.
-time
-friend (helping hand never hurts)

OOPS, forgot to mention that it was an 84 dash. Sorry. Is there any huge difference in them? I mean, i understand that they look different, but ARE they different? I will hopefully figure this out today as I have alotted almost the entire day to the "dash removal project". I will take pics of the progress as I go. IF I can get it out without breaking it into pieces it will be for sale. It is a red dash out of an 84 GSL. SO, if anyone is interested hold on and we will see how everything goes and then I will post a thread for it in the for sale section. Wish me luck!!!
