I hit 95mph in my SA once. Then the thought came to me, "Is it really wise to be going that fast in a car you just bought 2 hours earlier for $300?" ;-)

The fastest I've probably gone in my 82 is 90...the speedometer stops @ 80...

I'd go faster, I just don't want to pop an Apex Seal, I'm not sure what condition they're in, :-\

My car I have hit 110. I wasn't to bad felt I could go a little faster but just a little. In my friends 7 that he races I've been up to 130, and it was solid as a rock. Though he has a working front air dam and the back of the hood is raised a little to help provide air flow out of the engine bay

I am going to design a small lip spoiler for the rear deck to increase down force at the rear and make a black skirt at the front to decrease front end lift...I have gone up to 112 before experencing aerodynamic shake....im assuming because there was too much lift at the front end. this all happend at about 4500RPM...

i dont know why mazda says the top speed is 113-125 mph...it seems to be higher.

you guys who have gone past 113...what kind of aero mods did you have?

took my moms 01 accord to 118-120, shook like hell.
What model? We have a 2000 Accord EX 5spd sedan that we've had up to 143, with no vibration, and hardly any wind noise.

I was impressed. I know the auto trans I4 and V6 models are limited to 128.

2000 Accord, 143mph. Who needs a Porsche? Somehow I'm not believing this.

well, my 80 has no problems at high speeds. i don't drive it a week without trippling. the highest i've got it so far was 130+. don't know how much more it got but was runnin out of roadand when in 5th it doesn't pull as fast. i don't have much vibes or shakes at all. just have good tight steering and ballanced tires make the difference. no suspention mods at all.
here's a pic of when we wen't to mt. st. hellens.

I don't know how fast I went on that St. Helens run, but I know I did a pretty good job of at least keeping the leaders in sight, and with the condition of my car, I was happy enough with that.

I dunno to be honest with you as my speedo goes to 85mph..but I have gotten very close to 7k in 5th gear. This is after Robert of Rotary Shack did my motor. I didn't hold it there for long as I just accelerated up to that and let off as I was passing some car and decided to hold the pedal for a short while.

One thing for sure, my x5 Bimmer can hold 135mph all day without a sweat and tops out at about 143mph....still it can hold that speed forever. 80mph is the truck's sweet spot apparently.

Fastest I've personally gone is about 160 on my motorcycle...and that also was a brief "get up there then back off" move.

on 1980 gearing 122 is achieved at 5850rpm in 5th gear or 7000rpm in 4th. maybe that will help you.

I feel like ive run out of gear in my 84 GSL-SE at about 100. Car screams up to that point and the wild gear is 3rd. But not much past 100.. My car is all stock as per Mazda.

now in my 82 rx-7 i buried the old style 85 speedo in 3rd gear, changed gears to 4th which started at 3krpm and i took it all the way to 6krpm. any1 know where i can get a new speedo?

HighwayRacer - check your '6'-port operation. Running out of torque at 100mph in an SE is due to stuck '6'-ports that aren't breathing at high engine loads.

My 84SE has great acceleration in 5th gear overdrive, and this is definitely due to cleaned up '6' ports and actuators that work correctly.

I have had my SE fast enough to know that I need to slow down, and 100 should not be a stretch for an SE.

My Mazda isn't running yet (bought it with a bad carb), but I've raced my pickup truck since I've had it. What, I'm a dumbass? Yep
I've hit 100 on the speedo, and, to tell the truth, felt like I was going 1000. Scary as hell.
91 D150 (Dodge Ram) that can take smooth U bends at 70 (banked, mind you).
Can't wait till I kill myself in my RX. Because, the way I race (insanely, no fear, act like your car's invincible) I WILL end up killing myself in that car.
I'll tell you my top and at what speed I take that 70 turn when she's running. Peace

My 84 SE can hit about 100-105 at redline in 4th seems like I lose speed after shifting to 5th. after reading prev. posts seems like somethings wrong? 100 seems like a stretch

13b Stage 2 street port
Hooker headers
Bonez intake

hit 130 maybe a little more in my aero star after fring the fuel cut off and after removing most of the restrictive exhuast and intake
topped out my speedo in my capri when i got it speedo says 140 but not sure its right took me like 4 miles of straight, level to slightly down hill road

but the fastest was a 72 "vette" it was more a track car then a street car role cage and all, but the speedo ended at 160 which we passed and i shifted into 5th gear amazing feeling the faster we went the better it felt still had sixth gear to go when i ran out of open road
