yep it's me again. as stated in the title the car's clutch is bad. i was just wondering if bleeding the lines would work/maybe be the problem? the clutch is new, maybe it was put in wrong or something. hopefully i have air in the lines. thanks

Air in the line would keep you from being able to engage the clutch properly and shift into gear. If the clutch is slipping (let it out while in gear but transmission not engaging - car not moving) and you have just replaced it, it MAY need to be adjusted, or, the clutch "fork" may not be seated on the "ball" inside the bellhousing.
What's the whole story here? Original problem? "New" clutch? Pressureplate? Flywheel resurfaced??

Here's hoping to the air, bit it is possible to destroy a clutch in 6 months of careless or inexperienced driving of a manual transmission...

I'm having trouble understanding your post. Are you having trouble getting it in gear, or is the clutch slipping?

ok here is the story. i was driving in third and had to slow down so i downshifted into second at about 20mph. trans felt like it engaged but the car didn't mover when i depressed the gas. after alot of pushing i got it where it needed to be. i can put it in gear and the car will move about 2mph at 5k rpm. i am hoping air in the lines. a mechanic quoted a new clutch plate job, even if i bought the part at around $700. i spent 1350 on the car so i really don't want to do that.

He doesn't know for sure, himself. That's the problem...somebody that lives near this guy really needs to go out and do a quickie diagnosis for the poor fellah...

I think I understand what's he's saying here... Basically he was driving down the road, downshifted and when he went to accelerate, the revs would rise but the car's speed did not change. Now he let the clutch out in first from a dead stop and the car will not move or die. Grifter, is that what's going on? If it is, then you'll almost definately need a new friction disc and/or pressure plate. This happened to an Triumph we had and it turned out the rear main seal went bad and leaked oil/grease onto the friction disc...

did you by chance get oil or grease or any liquids on the preasure plate, fly wheel, or disk? if you did, you need to take it apart and wipe it down with WD-40 or starter fluid it'll trap the oil and let you clean it, then evaperate off.

Exclamation IT MOVES!!!!!!!!

I bled the lines and it moves now. well not very fast but a big improvement. hopefully i can continue to bleed the lines and it will be ok. You have the situation completly right danny. friction disc? ok i am a newbie and definately not a mechanic so you guys lose me sometimes. i have not had anything on this car apart yet so i haven't greased anything. as soon as i get some time this car will get alot of attention.
