I guess it is $$$$$
But, if it works well I think it'll be a good investment.
Just need to figure out exactly how I want it, and what it needs.
Before when I ran a modified 48 IDF I ran F9 emulsions. 220 mains and 140 airs. Street driven, wonder what I'll end up with on the duals? I'll probably remove the chokes, and do some other things to my liking.
How much different is the 40 from the 48?
yeah 330x2 + 300-400 worth of jets and filters and gaskets and stuff....

i think with two 40's, you'd run primary/secondary carbs, so i'd almost jet the primary one for max economy, and the secondary one max power, but who knows how that would work out?

i think 40 and 48 are the same except the throttle plate?

Yupp.
As far as the jetting goes, I think you'd have to figure out how the linkage was going to be configured first. Will they both open together, or is there some sort of progressive linkage setup? If it was progressive, then yes one set for economy and the secondary carb for max power. If the linkage was straight up then you'd have to mess with main's and emulsions to get the AFR's around 14.5 at cruise and tune the upper end at full throttle in the low 11's. Not sure where you'd end up as far as getting goes.. Something wacky.

And no, on the IDF's the 36/40's are different than the 44/48's, more than just the throttle plate. They're smaller obviously but there's no way of bolting air horns on them IIRC. At least i've never seen a 40 IDF with air horns. So the throttle body is different and air horn assembly, not sure what else is. They look more interesting IMO.
Linkage is a mystery, also haven't gotten to see the manifold yet, are they mounted horizontal or vertical? Any guesses?

RE back in the day made a dual 36 DCD setup that rocked. Why did I buy the Dell
back then anyway ? Now I wish I had gotten that setup instead.
