Wanted to see what you guys thought about this hood scoop. It will be functional for a top mounted intercooler--so it's not rice. Also will duct a small amount of air over to the turbo side of the engine for keeping the engine bay cooler. After install it will sit about 1/2" closer to the hood than shown, so it may not appear as big.

This thing will seriously grab some air for the intercooler--watch out for small children and birds--jk.

The angles and shape appear to match the FB style IMHO. Maybe I just need to get used to seeing it up there. Doesn't obstruct out the window view in any area that really matters. Also, it's not painted.

Its functional and it looks like a subi scoop but again fuctional is better than looks any way.

 

Its all personal prefrence, but I think its too tall. I'd say don't go that big. It looks cheesy on a RX. If I were you I'd look into something like the Turbo II FC's had, low and sleek. It suits the car better. Big scoops are for big cars.

I can't say I've ever seen an FB with an attractive scoop, they look much better with the original bonnet line. But that's just me.

 

im putting the 300zx z31 scoop on mine, right over my turbo. thats the only scoop i like. but i have to agree with you, stock is the best, but underhood temps on a 12a turbo kill.

Yeah it doesn't look like it belongs there but if you shortened it in hight and streched it out in length a few inches it would still be functional but it would look a lot better. Look at an wrx and look at a 7 the hood matches the wrx short and blocky not sleek and race like the 7. but again i think it would be a more funtional scoop than a regular tII scoop.

 

Oh jesus that thing is ugly as ****. Your car is f-ing GORGEOUS, that thing would just ruin the whole image. It stands out like a sore thumb, you need something that is more subtle and just flows with the curves of the car.

I dont think it looks bad, if painted to match your car I think it will look awesome, also its designed to draw in mass amounts of air, not look great. Subaru knows what their doing, and it will look good, plus when your piston enemies iare behind you they cant see it anwyay.

 

ok heres wut u do...find a guy with a WRX and pop his off and trade him for his (all he has to do is paint it and pop it back into place....real easy) and then u have a bit smaller still awsome scoop...and cuz my brother has a WRX and i like how it looks..i with you...i wouldnt mind one on mine (would be tight to have a carbon hood with the WRX scoop!!!)

 

I dont like it, its too tall and not long enough. The hood is too long for a short scoop like that. Looks like it would suck in a LOT of air, though.

If you like it go for it. It really dosent matter what all of us think about your hood scoop. Its your car, afterall.

 

I agree with the others that dont like it.

 

it can still be rice even if it is functional. Why have a top mount when you can have a front mount. I dont like @ all.
