If your Oil Metering Pump is working fine, and you've got oil lines leading to the carb that have oil going through them, then no.

If you OMP is operating properly and flowing to factory spec. then it's not necessary. However, there are advantages.

The way your OMP works is a fairly crude setup for the dispersion of the oil in the rotor housings. As you know, the OMP essentially drips oil into the intake path as it is flushed into the housing with the aspirated fuel. If the oil and fuel is mixed thoroughly in the tank then it can essentially lubricate more evenly when burned.
I personally add 1oz. per 2gal. of fuel when I refuel. My OMP works fine but there are a few reasons why I do both.

1. Reliability - If my OMP fails then my engine doesn't see hundreds of miles with no mixing. I try to check my OMP about once a month. After all, it is 22 a year old car.

2. Better Lubrication - Like changing your oil, the more the better. Of course there is a limit. But adding a premix to the OMP operation isn't going to hurt your engine. In fact, it will thank you.

The main tax would be more noticable smoke from the exhaust and more frequent plug cleaning/changing. I havn't personally noticed this, but it would make sense that they are an effect. I have always been a fan of premixing. I used to block-off the OMP and premix every Rx7 that I bought. In recent years, I just started premixing with the OMP and found it to work fine.

There are many opinions out there, and this is just mine.

Good luck

Id use it either way yeah its over kill if everything is working fine but hey your next trip out the omp might go out. If you premix get some idemitsu fuel lube and mix it 1/2 oz per gallon. Its a cream color so it wont burn black smoke and its a sweetish smell instead of a burning smell.
