Do I need to go to my rotary shop after sticking in new TPS?

A couple years ago, one of the techs told me that when I do replace my throttle position sensor, I need to come on by so that he can stick some computer thing onto it to calibrate it I guess. However, they have now moved to a new location into West Virginia and they're about 45 minutes to 1 hour away from where I live. Factor in my work hours and it becomes a bind.

When I replace the TPS, do I really need to go by there, or can I get away with just replacing it and doing something else?

I think you can get away with a continuity tester. The TPS on a GSL-SE is a simple switch. A real GSL-SE person should see this thread any time now and correct me if I'm wrong.

Couple of years ago a got a beater GSLSE for cheap because the throttle was all over the place. The car didn't know if you wanted it to idle, nor how far down u had the throttle pedal. It was a real bucking bronco getting it home.

I changed the TPS and made my own test light with instructions from this board. All u need are two 12V lamps (different colors help), wire, and two alligator clips.

You can do this at home, on your own, and pay next to nothing. I did it, and it was my first time fiddling with fuel injection. And yes, I was worried about it at the time too.

Yea,the SE and S4 TPS is pretty easy to do,and youll know if its off because the engine will run like pure crap! I did my old one with a couple LED's.
The S5 is the only one that is self adjusting.

Don't forget the JC Cosmo engines and the FD! The pinouts are different. It was interesting figuring that out.

Okay, how exactly would I search for a DIY test light for the TPS?
