Question do computer upgrades help much?

i am trying to get more power out of a 1985 rx7 gls with a 12a engine, and i was looking through posts and noticed people suggesting using an msd ignition upgrade, and i was also looking at a computer upgrade kit. I was wondering how much these improve hp, gas milage and if there is any other improvements i can make for cheep, while keeping it close to factory spects, or improvements i can make and take out easly when i want to sell it.

well, for one, there's no computer in an '85 GSL.... it's a carburated 12A engine.... that might be a problem

secondly, the links Alien posted will be very useful in your quest for power...

header = best bang for buck... get the racing beat system.

MSD system won't do too much for power, but will make the car more driveable, and start easier in the cold, etc...

What is the part # that JC Whitney has on the computer for the Rx-7, sure its probably for the -86 and later engines.
