Not the 1st gens... Only FC and FD's. CP has a conversion using VW parts but I haven't heard too many good things.

 

Depends on the model.

I assume because you're asking in here, that you are referring to the 1st gen... The answer is no. 1st gens have a recirculating ball type setup, which if you do a quick search you'll find most people don't like.

2nd and 3rd gen 7s do have rack and pinion.

 

Just so that it doesn't sound biased, have you heard any bad things?

I do not find a lack of road feel, my big complaint is turning radius is now much larger.

I definatly don't think the $550 price tag is cost effective for kit, but I've talked to two people who think that's a killer deal, so I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder. The problem with my 7 is that It's to hard to turn the wheel with the 225 Hoosiers on the front. I don't want to switch to a 15:1 ratio rack when it's nearly impossible to turn fast times with the 18:1 rack I have now. The benifit's I see to the VW conversion is I should be able to run PS with the newer rabbit rack. I'm not to worried about radius, since my tires restrict movment anyways. It sounds to me like this is a good mod for race cars, but probably not worth the money for street cars. I can't wait to see how you like it on the track Dragon.

 

I'm in the middle of installing my J.O. R&P right now. I promise to update everyone of the result when I'm done.

 

I needed one because I hosed my steering box in a side impact collision.

It'll go in this spring when I have the engine out.

 

omg i have rack off of a wrecked 323 GTX could i get that 300 doller kit and throw that stuff together what all does it take?!
