DLIDFIS with FC coil

getting ready to go with the dlidfis setup on my 85 S and i have a question about using an FC coil. by using this, it will eliminate the need for thw two FB coils and the ignitor, as the FC trailing coil pack that i am considering using has the ignitor built in and is mounted on a heat sink. seems like it would work just fine in theory, as this coil pack fires at the same time. i'm just in need of some opinions before i attempt this. should i just stick with the FB coils and the seperate ignitor? or would this be a good upgrade?

just do the 2nd gen direct fire mod, then there is no need for another ignitor.

using the leading coil instead of the trailing coil?? and/or using my existing ignitor instead of using the FC ignitor?i liked the FC's trailing coil pack due to its size and having the ignitor built onto it.

excellent! i've been wanting to do this for quite some time now. i have the smaller FC coil with the built in ignitor and it looks as if it will work pretty well. i'm excited to try this.

i do understand. i want to keep the ballast to prevent the ignitor from burning up. and i will not use the second gen ignitor, i will use my forst gen ignitor instead. i'm going to get some heat sink grease from radio shack today and i'm pretty sure i have all of the parts necessary.

just make sure you use the ballast from the second gen coil and disconnect the + wire from the igniter and tape it off.

to tell you the truth, i didnt mess with timing at all when i did mine, i should though. I think its going lean up top.
Best bet is to check it and go from there

that works. i really dont like messing with the timing. it always seems like it messes things up and its hard to make it run correctly after jacking aroud with it. i may advance it SLIGHTLY. its hard to tell how much though, as i know you are very well aware of, the 7 doesnt have a timing indicator, just the leading mark(yellow) and trailing mark(orange) and the lovely pin. gotta love it!
