dizzyness :?

hi all..

new to the forum, feeling a bit lost ,

i need a bit of help, i have a s2 rx7 with a rx4 13b. i'd like to upgrage my ignition system to dfis. i'd like to do the DLIDFIS but i'm pretty sure its not an electrical dizzy.
id like to....

a) convert my 13b mechanical(? if thats wat theyre called???) to electrical, how do i go about doing this?/

b)alternatively, a dfis for mechanical dizzy??

i've searched this for the past couple of hours but theres no specific tech discussion on my setup

any help would be appreciated

cheers

I'm not overly familiar with the old 4port 13B engines other than what I've read. But I would imagine that you could swap out the points dizzy for an electronic one. That's what folks do with the 12A that came with points in the SA RX7. Once you swap that over, then you can just follow the steps for the direct fire.

Hopefully somebody who's got experience with this 13B engine pipes in to clarify.

Once you get the electronic dizzy in, check into using a 2nd gen coil pack for your leading ignition. This is about the cheapest mod out there, and makes a noticeable difference all around...

If you have trouble take a look at the REPU websites/forums. The REPU has the 4 port 13B and mechanical distributor and guys regularly convert them to electronic. You can get the dist and wiring for an 83-85 at a Pick n Pull.

If you have the ability to take pictures, you could show us what your engine bay looks like; specifically the distributor. You might already have an electronic dizzy because it did come stock in S2 and S3 ('81-'85). I can't imagine anybody wanting to go back to points during a 12A to 13B swap, unless they are completely inept.
