Dizzy help

Ok I uninstalled my dizzy w/o marking anything, But its ok cause I can see all the marks on my car. My queston is if I reinstalled it right.

What I did, I roteded my engine by hand clock wise till the first mark was even with the timng mark. Then I lined up the dot with the notch on my dizzy and installed it.

Is this correct?

And the lock down bolt should be in the center of the slot, yes.

yeah i did, another question.

My fill hole for my tranny fluid looks like its welded shut (WTF!?!?!), if its really welded shut is there anywhere else I can fill the tranny up with fluid? and how much does it hold? I got a 83' stock tranny. Thx. If I could find the person who owned this car be4 me Id kill him.

FB no, SA yes. Are you sure it's welded and not a sealing agent? Volume is less than 2 qts., iirc.

No and no, sorry. If you want to fill it from the driveshaft hole, you will need to take the tranny out, put in the requred amount, install the driveshaft, then install the tranny. The fill level is up to the fill plug, which is above the driveshaft.

The lube for the shifter is seperate from the trannys in the 81+ trannys.

How much fluid goes in the top portion of the tranny (shifter part)? Regular gear oil should be OK right?

I just used the same stuff I put in the transmission - Redline MT90. On the Mazdatrix site they have an article about replacing the shifter bushings in the 2nd gen:

http://www.mazdatrix.com/faq/shiftbsh.htm

and they say to "Fill to around middle of shift rod." I wasn't sure what that meant, so I just filled to around the center of the ball on the shifter that fits into the bushings.

hmmm, well then was the stuff coming from the gear shifter an totally diff oil? so i need to add more to that to then huh? well hell i guess ill try to get the fill plug off, even tho it looks welded.

Anyway, I have some problems with the dizzy. when i installed it roteded my engine by hand clock wise till the first mark was even with the timng mark. Then I lined up the dot with the notch on my dizzy and installed it. When I lined up the first mark it was the yellow one, i tryed starting the car and it would turn over but wouldnt ever crank (yes I tryed turning the dizzy clock wise and counter....nothing worked) so I just wondered what would happen if i lined it up with the red mark and bam it started right up, ran like **** but started.

anyone know why it started with i installed the dizzy using the 2nd notch turning the motor clock wise?

I can't think if any reason why someone would weld a fill plug, so make sure it's not just grease and grime around the threads that looks like weld.

When installing the dizzy, the gears will have to go in the right spot, try taking it out and put it back in. Make sure the plasticdistributor-fingerthingie is pointing at L1 on the cap

Set the engine to TDC. When the dizzy is seated, the reluctor and pickup should straight across from each other. These are found under the metal shield, under the dizzy rotor. My terminology, reluctor and pickup, may not be correct, but I think you will understand when you look at it. Basiclly, the air gap between these 2 points will be the closest they can be.

It's easy to get off a tooth when installing the dizzy as the shaft tends to turn when mating to the drive gear. You need to hold the body and center shaft when inserting so both turn at the same rate.

Have you double checked that your wires are on correctly or that the ignitor wires going to the coils are correct? That could be a problem that would maybe cause what you are experiencing.

Yeah I think I have the wires right, but I have noticed something

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...light=ignitors

^^ there it says (when useing a GM ignitor) that the green wire from the dizzy goes to W

http://www.needfulthings.net/cgi-bin...ST;f=77;t=1511

^^ there it sames the same wire goes to G

so witch is it?

Right now I have G=Green and W=Red, then B= + and C= -
