Fair looking....I am not trying to nit pick....just help. If someone took some spray on 3m spray glue...another $5....and maybe used some real thin...1/8 thick upholstery foam.....maybe another $5...you probably would really be on to something.

Youy would not have to cover the brads with paint or something because you would not need them. You also will have no runs, sags, or wrinkles because the glue will hold everything put.

Spray a light coat on the door card.....spray an even lighter coat on the fabric....wait about 30 seconds and assemble.

I definitely give you some kudos for trying to improve the door panels. It sucks we cannot find new panels for our SA22C's!

I spent $9 on a sheet of wood that was around the same size as the original. Another $15 on the pleather, $5 on the 3m glue (don't waste your money) buy contact glue. And a lot of time and love to cut out new panels. Here is what mine turned out like. I'm quite pleased.
Sorry they are kind of fuzzy.

i did the headliner in my old golf and stay away from super 77 **** sags when it gets above 70*. if using contact glue pick a dark color or you risk the glue seeping through.

I was thinking about doing something like this but real simple but original. I wanted to use a leather or some sort of "flat rope" material for my door pulls instead of the big plastic hunks hanging on there. Really different!

i bought the glue, didnt work at all...i wanted to staple the other side... like pull i tight and staple like you would stretch canvas... but the stock door cards were too thin... so this was the way i had to go...its albout 1/2 the weight of the stock door panel, and looks much cleaner then the old ripped up dirty one i had on there! haha

nice job!!!! much better looking then mine! i was going to use wood, but then realized i didnt really have to since all that hard work was already done.. and the wood weighed more then the stock card did... but very nice work!!! i continplated weather or not to use the metal piece but in the end again to save a little more wieght i opted not to, though now im tring to figure out what im going to do with the wobbly door lock... but i have an idea so i guess ill see if it works today!!!!

Seems like the only way the spray glue works is if you spray the door card....then spray the material....let it set for 30 to 45 seconds and then assemble the two. Otherwise it does not hold worth a ****!

I sprayed both the wood and fabric and most if it held up really nice. Plus I stretched it and stapled in the back so I "knew it wasn't going anywhere. The only issues I had with the spray glue is where the door panel meets the factory foam pad. It is hard to see but it pulls away from the sharp line I gave it between the two, I am a perfectionist when I comes to my work so every time I see it I get frustrated as if It new to me

I'm wanting to find a straight trim I can screw on the line, I think it will bring more character to the doors as well. Any advice on what?

3M 90 spray adhesive, recommended by my auto upholstery supplier. Did the headliner in the WB over 3 years ago, holding fine. It's 11 bucks a can, quit buying the cheap ****, unless that's the kind of finished product one wants.

Come on....we all might be new to the all mighty Wankel, but some of us newbies do know where to cut costs That was said with much sarcasim and a big smile on my face. Why you ask? Because I used 3m Hi-Strength 90!

No if only they made a spray on glue like this: Yes it's a little long but good for a laugh.

Vermont native, Ronald Demuth, found himself in a difficult position yesterday. While touring the Eagle's Rock African Safari (Zoo) with a group of thespians from St. Petersburg, Russia, Demuth went over board to show them one of America's many marvels. He demonstrated the effectiveness of "Crazy Glue" ... the hard way. Apparently, Demuth wanted to demonstrate just how good the adhesive was, so he put about 3 ounces of the adhesive in the palms of his hands, and jokingly placed them on the buttocks of a passing rhino. The rhino, a resident of the zoo for the past thirteen years, was not initially startled as it has been part of the petting exhibit since its arrival as a baby. However, once it became aware of its being involuntarily stuck to Demuth, it began to panic and ran around the petting area wildly making Demuth an unintended passenger. "Sally (the rhino) hasn't been feeling well lately. She had been very constipated. We had just given her a laxative and some depressants to relax her bowels, when Demuth played his juvenile prank," said James Douglass, caretaker. During Sally's tirade two fences were destroyed, a shed wall was gored, and a number of small animals escaped. Also, during the stampede, three pygmy goats and one duck were stomped to death. As for Demuth, it took a team of medics and zoo caretakers over four hours to remove his hands from the rhino's buttocks. First, the animal had to be captured and calmed down. However, during this process the laxatives began to take hold and Demuth was repeatedly showered with over 30 gallons of rhino diarrhea. "It was tricky. We had to calm her down, while at the same time shield our faces from being pelted with rhino dung. I guess you could say that Demuth was into it up to his neck. Once she was under control, we had three people with shovels working to keep an air passage open for Mr. Demuth. We were able to tranquilize her and apply a solvent to remove his hands from her rear," said Douglass. "I don't think he'll be playing with Crazy Glue for a while." meanwhile, the Russians, while obviously amused, also were impressed with the power of the adhesive. "I'm going to buy some for my children, but of course they can't take it to the zoo," commented Vladimir Zolnikov, leader of the troupe.

The SA door panels are just thick sturdy cardboard / particle board with vinyl glue to it.

now wait just a m*****f***ing second,

My door panels are off and I took a peek at the cards and they have a bunch of curves and bumps for pockets and stuff. You all's are flat...

WTF? you claim to use the stock cards yet your panels have no contours or bumps that would be the pockets.
