Distributor question.

Hello all,

I just got my car back from the mechanic. First let me tell you what happened. I was cruising at 40mph and the car died, it still cranked, but didn't start. So now its fixed, and the only thing that was replaced was the distributor.

I've never heard this problem happen to anyone so are there major problems that could lead this to happening, should I check anything else? Also my gas mileage just seems to be awful now, probably 10 mpg. Thanks for any help.

He probly didn't set the dizzy in right and is probly like 1 tooth retarded. I guess that the pickup in the dizzy could have gone bad, but I don't think that's grounds for replacing the whole damn thing. Maybe he had one laying around. How much did you pay for the dizzy?

Check your timing and the split with a timing light.

Yah I got my old dizzy back. You're right though about him being a little dumb, but a friend recommended him. Got a used one from someone on the board for $80. Well I can rebuilt the dizzy and now I have a backup. I just don't want this problem to happen again, and want to know what other factors could have caused it to break.

Oh and my gas mileage seems fine, just that the fuel gauge isn't accurate at all.
