Distribuitor on 1985 12A

There is a nice 1985 ,(I think GSL),with only 84,000 miles showing, in the local wrecking yard.
My question is, are the igniters the same , as my 1982 12A,GSL?
The car in the yard is a California car,and mine is a 49 state.
Would the whole distribuitor be the same? Drop in?
Thank You!!
Also, somebody was looking for gray inside door panels, and these are 100% perfect.Anyone remember who it was, I can not find his post anymore.

Pretty sure they are all the same from '80 on up. If it has the J-109 ignitors, then you're all set. If it has J-105 (I think) ignitors, then they'll be mounted on the strut tower (1980 I believe). Could still be made to work, but best off to find the newer model.

Kentetsu- The igniters are mounted on the distribuitor, like my 1982.

In that case, grab it while you can.

correct me if i'm wrong, but i do believe the ignitors from 79-80 are the J-105's and 81-85 are the j-109

Well, I know for a fact that the '79s had points, so no ignitors...

maf: double check the id on the ignitors. Make sure they are the J-109s just to be safe...

Thank you!!
I am going crazy , with this car!I can not find ,in the factory manual, and it is vague, in the Haynes manual, as to how the plug wires go.
From the 12 oclock posistion, (really about 11/the way my timing is set),the cap is labeled:
T
T1
LT
Then the cap vent
L2
T2
What wire goes where?

lol, this is supposed to be easy since everything is labeled. Most caps are labeled, and the side of your motor is too.

T1 would be top front of motor
T2 would be top rear of motor
L1 would be bottom front of motor
L2 would be bottom rear of motor
L goes from dizzy to rear coil
T goes from dizzy to front coil (unless these got switched around, which often happens).

It is hard to see the markings on the side of the motor,it runs counter clockwise, and if you are not familiar with leading, or trailing and the coils can be reversed, and the thing will still run wired wrong........
It all becomes a little confusing to a senior noob, with failing eyesight.
As usual, you have made my day!!
I had readjusted the float levels, and it runs much better, but I could feel a shudder, on deceleration, and the ******* valve has already been replaced.
Thanks ,for your help.
BTW, the 85 distribuitor had 109s, and new NGK wire set,(at the wrecking yard).
Anything else I should get? It was mashed in the front, so it went down running.

congrats man, easy way to remember the plugs, towards the front of the car is rotor 1 towards the firewall rotor 2.

T for Top
L for Lower

it all depends what model your car is, and what you want to do, but if your car doesn't have lsd i'd pick that up

Kentetsu- When you told me about the 109s, I went and verified, and pulled the entire distribuitor, wires, igniters, cap rotor, and all.
It is mine!
Also, (no small thanks to you), I just went and passed Emissions test!!!!!!!!
Woo Hoooo!!!!!!!
I got the antenna,(stock electric), from the 85.My radio would not work before,(non stock rubber antenna). I got lucky, and the 85 antenna works great, goes up and down, gets great signal, and now, the radio works perfectly, but ONLY when the headlights are ON.When the headlights are off, same old static, and no sound, turn them on, and it works perfectly. ?????
BTW, the coil wires were reversed, and the trailing rotor wires were reversed.
Notice my expertise, and correct terminology!
When I rev it, and let off, it has a shutter, as it idles down.Is this normal?
