a dilemma of sorts

i bought a 83 fb and still havnt recieved a title from the party that sold it. they moved . i have a temp. tag for 45 days on it right now. how do i find out who last owned the car so i can get the title sent to me. i called the dmv but they wont tell me any info. im pretty pissed off about this. also i tried carfax but , 1. they ask for a credit card, 2. i dont think they give the last owners name. anyone ever have this problem before? getting desperate

and that is why i don't hand over cash until they hand over a free and clear title......

you may be able to apply for a lost title..

Do a search here for 'carfax'. I think someone is running carfax reports on request for free. I don't think they tell you the previous owner's name, though.

I don't think that's going to help you. Did you get any documentation from the seller. Like a receipt? IANAL, but it looks to me like you are not the legal owner of the vehicle.

How did you get a temp tag without some sort of documentation?

got a bill of sale, but you still need a title to get another title, bill of sale will only get you a temp. tag. after that you need the title to get a tag. oh well, other ways to skin a cat. may have to go back to the old "gone in 60 seconds" days (j/k) just wanted to make sure the persons name on the bill of sale is the origional owner. thanks for the input

in Ga. if its older than 87 all you need is a bill of sale... fake 1.... and then when you go to get the car swaped over to you you can get a title reissued to you
