I'm in the same boat, after 3 years my SE pumpkin is about to go splat.R&P gears are shaved down to knives.
Just get a new/used 3rd member, and if you end up needing wheel bearings later, its easy to change them out.
Try running some Redline Shock Proof gear oil if you plan on drag racing a lot.
And I wouldnt recommend the Torsen LSD for a drag car.Theyre more in tune with a road racer and tend to break up under heavy torque loading. The stock clutch LSD may wear, but it pushes harder on the discs the more power you feed it.Us turbo guys have an abundance of torque,so even a worn out clutch LSD, when under a lot of twist, will put power to both tires.

Airflow is my life
This might help http://www.mazdatrix.com/g2.htm I used to live in St Cloud, but moved to Olrando recently. Any details on your problem? Is it a whine that increases in road speed? Thats a sign of a bad ring and pinion.

if the gears are fine.... then don't bother replacing it with another used one......
It is the bearing on the pinion gear that is shot. pull the pumpkin out and the beaing is located just behind where the drive shaft bolts up (IN THE PUMPKIN).
Sorry for the poor description. very inexpensive to change.... plus you can put in a new oil seal and change the clutches while your in there.
