Died While Shifting

Died While Shifting
84 GSL
Driving home shifting from 2nd to 3rd, car dies. Starts back up... dies while shifting. Let her sit for awhile, she starts up and I make it home. open the hood and I noticed low fluid in the slave cylinder. Could this cause her to die while shifting?
