Did the 1st gens have p/s?
Doesn't anybody like the powersteering?
I drove my '84 with the PS disconnected for a few weeks, and I never really go used to having to enter turns earlier and steer the wheel back so much.
I have still been considering taking it off; just for the weight and power.
But I have heard it is tough on the steering if you remove the ps from a car, like the non-ps one is a completely different beast and doesn't need the lubrication.
So what happens? Can I just pull the pump right out and not have to worry?

I don't know how the rex P/S is set up but running GM P/S boxes on the road with the pump disengaged takes YEARS out of their lives. The effort is also higher because the system is designed with mechanical assisstance from the beginning. My opinion---> Don't do it!

Would love to see a rack/pinion swap for our 1st gens. With wide tires that track on rutts in the road and play in my steering wheel, I often wonder just how precise or safe the driving of my car in any shape of performance driving is.

What's nice is parallel parking with super hot, gummy DOT-R tires after 20 minutes of hot lapping.
I always wanted to try draining the gear oil and re-filling with synthetic... the only time it seems to get heavy is when it gets cold out, takes a few miles before the steering frees up.
