Diamond in the rough
I came across a great find today. One of Jays83gsl's friends called me today and said I had to come see him. Okay, whatever. I go there, and he opens the garage to a dusty old black S2. I ask him where he got it and he said that Jay was having him store it there for a while. A while turned into a year, and he was getting quite sick of it. I got in and tried starting it with the key, and it FIRED RIGHT UP. I immediately took it home, where I have room to take care of it until I can get the title from Jay.
It's apparently a GSL with a targa band, front air dam, louvers, and a whale tail spoiler. It has an MSD ignition, headers, and a straight through exhaust (haven't had the time to pull down the headers to see the brand yet. Chrome). The rotors up front are a little bigger than mine.
As I was driving it home, I opened it up a little to find - to my joy - mechanical secondaries. When I got home, I opened the hood to find a highly modified carb. It stalls out a bit at around 6000, though.
The tires are brand new Pirelli, and everything is perfectly clean.
I don't know if Jay had been building this car on the side and not telling anyone (very unlikely, he's a bragger), if he bought it on a salvage title and just hasn't been able to buy a new one, or acquired it through less legal means (again, unlikely, since the key is with the car), but it's mine now.
Any advise on the stalling at 6000 rpm?

What happened is this: Person A (Jay) stored the car in person B's garage for a year. Person B showed the car to person C (the OP) and, apparently, allowed person C to drive it away. Person C is attempting to obtain the title from person A.

sounds like theft to me
on a similar note.
I know a guy about a 1/2 mile away with a mint 93 FD (40,000 miles) that just sits in his garage. Im sure it would just start up if i try. Maybe i should just drive it home...

Truthfully depending on what type of deal Jay had with his friend they could have agreed on a certain time frame for his friend to hold the car. Maybe Jay didn't keep in touch with his friend and did not pick the car up when his friend was tired of it sitting in his garage.
So technically if that's the case its called abandonment. And after a certain amount time I'm sure the owner of the garage could do whatever he wanted with the car because the owner was not claiming responsibility for it. So the garage owner could tow it, sell it, or give it away!!!
And he seams to be able to contact Jay and knows the same people so I dont really think he stole it. Give us the rest of the story gsterror!!!

I agree with some points about Jay being a bad person and ripping people off being wrong, but it doesnt do any good to drop to his level.
I think maybe trying to contact Jay BEFORE you took it home, would have been a better deal. Just becuase you look at it one way doesnt mean the Law looks at it the same.
