Diagnostic on a fuel pump
Have a carter fuel pump going into a 85 gsl se body. Old build was a 83 gsl and there are some differences, obviously. Engine/carb is a weber into a 92 engine.
In the 83 when I had accessory power my fuel pump ran, always.
Thought my lines/cor/something else was bad because the 83 does NOT turn on the pump with accessory.
Ran 12 V to pump, pump runs fine.
On a whim turned over the engine and the pump line gets 12 v on turnover. Pump was not plugged in but I am assuming it would pump fuel on ignition.
Is this intended behavior? Once the engine is running would the pump kick in? Wondering if my EGI or something isn't seeing a signal that it wants and is cutting power to circuit opening relay.
Would prefer not to solder and bypass stuff but will if have to. Was hoping to pick someones brain on here before I do anything permanent.
Thoughts?
