Diagnose my Squeel

i have a high rpm squeel. comes on anywhere from 6k to 6.5k and stays until redline. i usually dont keep it there too long.

anywho, i suspect it could be oil related which scares me, a belt, or something in my clutch.

im led to believe clutch because my oil pressure doesnt dip, and everytime i shift gears there is a little squeek as the engine matches the speed of the trans.

i bought some lucas oil stabilizer if it was an oil starvation thing, but its full and i dont want to over oil it.

Belts have fooled me before. You can take the belt off or change it to see if there is a difference. Your description of gear changes kinda sounds like the pilot bearing might be beginning to complain. Just don't rev it above 6K Yeah, right.

try it with the belts off to eliminate the belt possibility (don't drive more than a couple blocks, remember the alt isn't running and the water pump won't be spinning. You could buy a can of belt dressing and spray the belts (easy solution)

Yeah, you don't want to go far with no water pump. Sounds like it could be bearing related (alternator, water pump). Will it do it when you rev it in the driveway? If so, then try it without the belt(s). That's the quickest way to narrow things down. I wouldn't drive it like that at all though, and only let it idle for a minute or so. She'll get hot fast with no water circulating....

im having kind of the same issue but mine happends when i am around 5k on. when i let go of the accel. it squeels but when i give it gas it dosent so it mostly happens on decel.

side note my fan is extreamly loud all the time and the mech was saying that i should get it replaced. would the squeel come from that?

thanks

if the fan clutch is locked up, or more likely on all the time because the thermostat is bad might make the belts slip.

the mechanic was saying that the fan clutch was bad. it does come on as soon as you turn on the car. should i do what was recomened before and run without the belts while at a stop?

should i go with another fan clutch? i changed all the belts so i dont think its the belts. what you guys think my steps should be?

take the fan off and rev it(really easy, 4 bolts)... obviously don't run it for too long without the fan though

If you rev it with the fan off and you don't hear anything, the fan clutch is probably fubar'd. Fan should only be engaged if the thermostat is full open and the engine is still not cooling down (it's temperature activated.) If it's staying engaged even when your engine is happily cooled, it would add extra strain on the belt and might make it squeal.

I picked up a replacement clutch from a forum user for $15

UPDATE- replaced the fan clutch and quickly noticed a difference. once i turned it on the fan did come on but quickly slowed down and i could tell that it was working on its own. Even with the choke on it is very quiet. i have yet to drive it but i think my squeal issue is gone. thanks everyone
