Dellorto Carb, Vacuum Hoses

I'm not quite sure where to route all the vacuum hoses on my '83 GSL with a 12a. I have a Dellorto carb that I'm installing. I know the nipple from the oil filler neck goes to the nipple on the air cleaner cartridge. I'm guessing the nipple on the intermediate housing goes to the coffee can, and the nipple on the intake manifold, goes to master brake cylinder? Does this sound right?

Perfectly right.

Although, if you route the PCV system to the air filter like RB says, your air filter will get sludged up quicker.

Best thing to do, is to get a small 'breather' filter and install it on the oil filler neck nipple. I also notice that this method results in less oil filler condensation.

I wish! That thing is going to fly!

Check out this write-up by Brad Page (on the forum, I think his name is DriveFast7, or something like that) about streetports and Dells:

And actually, that whole website is fantastic; the main page is here:

Thanks a lot? This is my first 7, I bought the car for $150 with a blown motor. Turned out one of the apex seals had cracked. Anyway, I'm really anxious to get this thing up and running, hopefully I'll be done this weekend. I just gotta finish putting on my RB exhaust system.

What fuel setup did you get? Most of us run the Carter 7psi fuel pump and Holley fuel pressure regulator. You can't run the stock fuel pump with your setup.. it is appallingly inadequate.

i've got a holley regulator right now. So far I have the stock pump, I have a Carter on order. I figure the stock pump will do until my motor is broke in. RB recomends no more than 4k for the first 500 miles.

Yeah, you'll be cool as long as you don't give her WOT for more than a few seconds.

Under 4k on a Dell? Uggghhh.... that's gonna be an exercise in restraint lol.

Unlike the stock Nikki which does alright on the low end, the Dell only gets going when it hits 4k or so.

Go WOT at 3k on the highway with a Nikki, and you'll accelerate. Try that with a Dell and don't hold your breath for 4k lol. But drop down a gear, and hang the **** on!

That's what i've heard, they've got practically no low end torque, but they really fly when they wind up. I'm probably going to be fabricating a new intake manifold for it, one similar to a Lake Cities intake. i work at a machine shop, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Good plan... those LC manifolds are pretty pricey, but I'd imagine it wouldn't be too bad fabbing your own up.

The lack of low end isn't that big a deal as long as you're willing to drive the thing like it's meant to be... It's just an adjustment in driving technique; you get used to it. Another thing about the Dell vs. Nikki is the practically immediate throttle response. The Dell hits hard, right away. The Nikki feels much more sluggish and progressive in comparison. And the throttle travel is much shorter than stock - the slightest touch of the gas pedal is all that's required for "normal" driving.

If you're anything like me though, you'll find that driving "normal" is pretty hard with all that go under your right foot
