Deer Problems

Does anybody else notice that rx7's seem to attract deer and make them jump out in front of you?My car seems to attract deer and not little ones neither since I've gotten my car Ive hit 3 deer ( all bucks) and I've only had my rx7 since august.Thankfully the rx7s unique bumper design they only ever mess up my headlight buckets and that nice piece of metel that goes in between them.Fortuantly for me the metal part between the headlights is easy to fix even if it gets creased, but the head light buckets are hard to find sometimes.

Three deer and only that damage all three times ?

Are you taking them out at the knees as you drift around them or some **** ? A deer can demolish a 7 very easily.

Your exhaust is too quiet, so they can't hear you coming....

I have to deal with a lot of deer here in Michigan as well. Improving your headlights is a good place to start. I ran heavy gauge wiring and relays for mine, then installed XtraVision bulbs, which do a great job.

Other than that, just make sure you drive with your eyes open...

deer

yeah pretty much all the deer I've hit are always late at night on a rural road. Also the 3 I hit Ive hit in the legs cause the always end up doin cart wheels over the car granted though Ive replaced my front bumper skin 1 time since Ive hit 3 deer. Also I live in pennsylvania and deer are all over the place. Also For the guy who got me with the B.s. Meter pretty funny but trust me ive hit deer on 3 seprate occasions. As i said before though I live in pa and i was on a rural road so automatically the posted speed limit becomes double

What he put the Bs meter up for was the fact that you stated you hit bucks and only did minor damage. I hit a yearling once after slowing way down waiting to see if was going to cross or not. It decided to jump in front of the car to follow the rest of his buddies. It destroyed the header panel and the right front fender. This was at a speed of around 15mph.

In your case it would of totalled the vehicle. Deer do not magically clear the car. Those cartwheels would be taking a major chunk of the sheetmetal with them. Even hitting a wild Turkey can total your car.

Ever thought of installing those electronic deer whistles on the front bumpers?
And how about slowing down to avoid out driving your headlamps?

I believe him, BUT I'm guessing he drives way toooooooooooo slow. I expect a broken windshield with the deer's head on your shoulder, because of how low a 7 sits.

Score one point for David Grimes for posting the first BS indicator & one half point for mannyvidal for posting the second BS indicator. We have a couple deer in Wisconsin & I have never met anyone in my lifetime (ya know the song about the back side of 30, double that with a few more years) that had hit 3 deer say nothing about 3 bucks in their life time.

hackthegibson24, $hit happens when ya drive around within the zoo.

Ok hit a deer going about 50-70 mpg with a low front end bumper they almost instantly go airbourne . Or like in football when people get hit low they do become airbourne doing cartwheels over the other person. maybe i just got lucky but it did do damage to my car that im not denying and other then hood dents and headlight buckets my cars fine.Old ladys have done more damage to my car then the deer.

I was at a sports club meeting last night & there was this supposed true storry that came out of Pennsylvania that some dude by the name hackthegibson24 during deer hunting was a very poor shot & pi$$ed of 3 buck deer. Now in retaliation the buck deer have opened a season on only his 7 during which time they will attempt to spear his car. So far they have had 3 close calls but speared nothing. The bucks promised they would take a picture & post it on this thread as they complete their mission.

Ran over a deer once driving a pickup truck. He was in mid jump so he bounced off the front grille, flew up in the air and landed right in the truck bed. Gave him to a friend of my father's who loves hunting and was pretty glad to get some fresh venison in the "off season." He said about 1/3 of the meat was too bruised to be edible, hah.

Truck suffered a broken (plastic) grille but no other damage.

I haven't really noticed that problem in the rex, although i have been running around with open headers. My caddy, now, THAT thing drew them out of the woodwork- I couldn't stop running into **** in that thing!(at least once or twice a week) I'm glad my Rx doesn't have this property though, because where I live I see herds of elk on a nightly basis. I saw one the other night, a bull, who pretty much filled the right lane all by himself.
