Deep dish! And i'm not talking pizza.

I really like the old school deep dish rims on the fb's. Only it's hard to find some that would fit without getting flares like this one:

That is sooo sexy to me.

I found these rims that I can get in 15x8 for the rear with a 3.5" lip and 15x7 with a 1.5" lip for the front but they only come in 0 offset. Here's some crappy photoshop with them on my carrito!

Those rims are pretty inexpensive, but i'd like to know more on what's out there. Like the 3 piece ones that Doc mentioned to me.

Some thoughts on this would be helpfull with pics even better.

I'm a big fan of deep dish wheels as well. The last pic you posted are really good looking (and best in my opinion), but at the same time I wouldn't put deep dish wheels on my car unless I had a widebody.

Ohh I hear ya. They look really sharp on widebodies. But I'm not looking into such an extreme deep dish, just a little deep dish (if there's such a thing) I remember back in the 80's my sister was dating this guy that had a pink 1st gen. Looked really sharp other than the ugly bright pink, but it had some nice small deep rims that really complimented the body.

Crap! I haven't even started running the wires for my megasquirt or even started the conversion and i'm here talking and looking for rims. What the hell is wrong with me!

Same thing that is wrong with all of us? I've been looking into all kinds of suspension options and haven't even began buying things to support 10,000 rpm red line for the port work I am going to start doing soon.

Although, I like to think of it as simply planning ahead and being far too organized.

Damn these are pretty hot:

I found them as low as $390 shipped. Oh the temptation. I'm not doing it though. I have too much on my plate to finish.

These are called Sport max 002. I was searching for them and found a group buy for $390 in either the "Z" or old school VW forums.

Not too shaby for the price. They only ones I looked at come in 4x100/4x114.3 These are 15x8 with 0 offset The 15X7's come with a 38 offset. I better get working on my se suspension set up.

I like those. The 15X7 with a 38 offset is the correct offset.

It's a toss up on deeper dishes on the back. Downside is it induces more understeer, upside, more traction for straight line hp, if one has it to use in the 1st place.

3 Piece Watanabe's would be awesome. You could put whatever size lip you want on them. I'm thinking about them for my FB, either Wats or Panasports

Alright, I've found the right thread.

What about 15 x 7 Konig Rewinds or Compomotive ML1570s with zero offset and 205/50/R15s tires?

Would these rub or should I go with 195/50/R15s?

This is what I have now. 13" x 5.5 ET rims.
185/60/R13 on front
205/60/R13 on rear.
The negative offset really does look best on an RX-7 in my opinion.
Tires stick out of the wheel well only slightly - we're talking 3/4 inch only.
It looks killer.

I'm going for new wheels though - either Rewinds (4 x 110) or Compomotives.
15 x7.
I'm just worried that 20mm offset will not be aggressive enough.
I'd like to have zero offset.
And if zero offset, I need help figuring out right tire size.

According to MANY threads on here about wheel fitment...
ZERO offset wheels will RUB on our FB's...
I think you will be safe with 20mm offset as long as you have 4.5 inch backspacing..
L8R

P.S I love those sportmax wheels and OG Axis wheels BUT the Axis wheels are only available in 4x100 lug pattern..

8 spoke 3 piece SSR rs-8's ssr stopped production but a few years ago RS watanabe started producing them. they are available in 14-16in diameter and 6.5-~10in wide. they are also about $120-150 a piece, really a bargain for true 3piece with swapable shells.

Flight O' Pain, what is the offset on those Wats?
Just curious.
They look mean, but I'd like a deeper dish look for my '79, if at all achievable.

0 offset on a pretty much stock suspension w/o camber adjustment will kill you.

Here's some shots of my daily beater FB. Excuse the filth & frost. The wheels are 15x7 Autobahns, nearly a 2.5" lip, 10mm offset with no rubbing issues although it does have camber plates. Right now it has adjustable coilovers, previously had RB springs with no problems. I actually do have a single 4x110 meshie of some type that has an offset of 2mm. I've been tempted to try it on the car but I think it would be just a little too much.

will those 15x8 wheels fit our first gen cars?
im pretty sure the 15x7's do.
i cant find any 15x7(front) and 15x8(rear) riken or epilson mesh wheels so i might go with the sportmax. that is only if the 15x7 and 15x8 are the correct offset for the front and rear of my GS.
please let me know.
thanks.
