Deciding on a muffler for the Cosmo POS :)

I think I have decided on a Borla Xr-1 Race muffler, 3" in, 3 inch out, all stainless for $159 Anyone else have experience with something else?

that will be really loud.. I would go with something either smaller diameter (pipe size) or longer. That won't really do much

I don't know about the Borla. I haven't heard it.

On turbo rotaries, I have heard both
Dynomax and Magnaflow. The Dynomax was very quiet, the Magnaflow sounded sportier.

I will be using a Magnaflow, similar to MoreMazda's exhaust in his recent thread.

well, it shouldn't be that loud, should it? i mean, are you planning to use some sort of presilencer? i know that the turbo will muffler a lot of the sound, but i'm just not sure if it will be enough so that it will be "street-friendly", you know?

and i think Borlas are pretty good, especially the XR1 line ... my friend uses it on his Corolla (with an REW in it).

Nonononononono... that is LOUD And i mean redefining loud. I built an exhaust using just one of them 'muffler' thingies from Borla (), and it's LOUD. It sets off car alarms at IDLE, and gets MUCH louder than that when you step on it! This is on a 1990 TII with (at the moment) a stock turbo. I have some sound files here in case you're interested in how it sounds...

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...my+new+exhaust

here're the sounds:
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...&postid=843825

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...&postid=843831

it sounds pretty good on the recording, but it is (for the last time ) LOUD LOUD LOUD LOUD LOUD LOUD

hehe... i figured i might warn ya ,
Manolis

Ok I got an appointment for Friday morning at the shop. They told me, bring it in on a trailer with no plate, and you wont have to sweat a cat on it

Find out how much for just a muffler for me please. I am getting really close to needing one. It was a 3" in? and did the tubes stay 3" all the way through?

Later
Randy

My screamin' 12a sounds like a rotary thud thud thud BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

The other thing sounds like my merkur! Borla has always made mufflers for Fords...one of the more popular mufflers and exhaust systems for the Merkurs are borla dual exhaust...guy i know has it, looks okay, sounds really really good
