That sucks *** man.

I can't tell you how much you're going to pay, but I will tell you where to go around here. PULL-A-PART. I think there's one in Lynnwood, but I'm not positive. There's definitely one in Tacoma (but if I recall you live more north).

Anyway, if you can wait until Wednesday night, I may be getting another second gen. If so, you can have the alternator off that. Yeah, that's right, for free. I'll let you know Wed. if I get it or not.

Later.

i would get it rebuilt! the mitsi alts on the 7's are not to badly priced for replacement parts. coz if u put on a second hand one on it could die on u again on really quicky if ur unlucky. most rebuild place will have a warrenty on them if some does go inside it!.

I got my 80 amp alt from a 89 GTU for $15 (+$10 shipping) on ebay, so it pays to shop around. L8R

Get a dead one from someone and walk it over to a small independent rebuild shop. Ask for the best rebuild. Don't go to Shucks. Napa's top of the line rebuild is, I think, the same as the mid range build with a lifetime guarantee tossed in. Be careful on lifetime warranties. I went to a Midas shop for a catalytic (before I knew jack about rotaries) and was told they had a lifetime guarantee on the cat. Knowing just enough to ask, I asked what lifetime was. "6 months" the guy says. And with a straight face no less. You can't go cheap on an alt, starter or muffler in these cars. Too much heat.
