12a is sluggish and stalls

Hmmm, not sure why, but my 12a automatic stalls at low rpm's. I just had the engine rebuilt (new housings and new seals). When I am sitting at a stop sign, or red light and i gas the engine kinda hard, it either stalls but then will pick up kinda slowly, then around 2500rpm it gets going really well (where I have no complaints) -or- it will just die.

Also, when I am in park after driving a while... and i go from idle (foot on nothing) and slam the gas pedal down... stalls.

It's my carb aint it? Fuel - Air mixture?

Your carb is most likely the problem. I would love to help, but trying to diagnose a carb problem without the carb infront of you is next to impossible. It could be the needle sticking, the previous owner could have wired the secondaries to be mechanical. And a million onther possibilities. Check the fuel filter because that could do it also. Do you have an A/F gauge or access to one?

sounds like carb to me also, but who did the engine work, maybe they can fix it to run with your new parts if its under some kind of warrenty. may just be a vacuum hose that was overlooked,,did they make a test run after the rebuild,,,worth a try,,good luck

I had the exact same problem in my 5 speed 12a. Check the voltage in your battery, mine was loosing charge thats why it was stalling, or the alternator maybe.

Engine was built by this guy in SA, he has been doing rotary work for about 15 years. he's the only guy in san antonio that everyone has suggested i goto. he's an ace.

My battery is new. My fuel pump is new. All my hoses were checked by him. He did clean my carb, but I think the floats may be bad...

hehe, i'll take it to him soon and see what he says.
