Unhappy That Day Has Come.

Well, got into a car accident...wasn't my fault though. A lady in a Dodge Neon decided to pull out in front of me instead of looking before she did just that. I tried to hit my brakes, but I hit a pile of snow and just slid into her.

We both decided to not go through insurance as it's a hassle and usually they screw you over anyway, especially with out cars being so old. According to them the car is worth a dollar and all they would do is total my car and give me the money for what it's worth...which would probably be like...$300. :/

Anyway, I got an estimate on the damages and I couldn't believe it...$2100 total. The bumper cover alone is $600. Why the hell is plastic and rubber so expensive?

Anyway, here are some pics. It didn't look like it'd be that expensive to fix, but anyway...

Find used parts - junk yards, for sale section of the Forum, etc. You can get 'em cheaper that what you listed, but you'll have to paint.

Sorry to hear/see, but at least you're okay.

I'll see what I can do about fenders, VB sells them but the ship truck freight which adds $100. If someone has got a fender with the Tornado Silver paint scheme then I'd take it definitely. As well as the bumper. I've called junkyards before for parts for my car around here and they always have to get parts from other junkyards around the country. I'm not too fond of doing that.

I know people that have had good luck getting stuff from http://www.mazdarecycling.com/.

There's also a guy in Atlanta that sells stuff, he's kinda slow but a nice guy
http://www.atlantarx7.com/about.html

Check the 1st gen parts for sale section, there's always people parting out cars on there.

Yeah, a few people told me that. I might, who knows. It's not pleasing to look at though, everytime I walk to my car I want to cry. heh

Cut a deal for $250 cash. Insurance would have just totaled my car and probably would have given me a couple hundred. This way, I get some cash and I keep my car. I figure I can buy parts from a junkyard or someone or whatever and put them on this summer.

I got $1600 from AAA for a similar bash. I got a good new LF fender in prime for $80 somewhere. And those center valances are about $20 around here (I stockpile them, since people bash them regularly).

You have to go to the junkyard yourself with a pocket full of wrenches! I also take my Dewalt DW052 impact driver for removing balky screws. I think of it as pearl-diving.

If she was at fault ...........she is responsible for your damages............if your estimate is 2100.00 then she owes you 2100...........

After you get the money...........find parts and fix..............

I feal sorry for you guys having to drive your cars in the snow.........I wont take my car out unless its warm and sunny........Like today.........

Good luck.......

By the way, got the PM. Thanks.
