i might be buying a 1st gen
i am in the middle of rebuilding a 2nd gen that was on fire and since then i have kinda fallen in love with the rotory. Since i bought my 2nd gen after it was on fire as a project car i am going crazy driveing just my daily dirver (nissan maxima) anyway there is this guy selling his 1st gen for under a grand. i have seen him driving it around town but i dont know anything esle about it. I know what to look for on 2nd gens just from looking around the forum, but what should i look for on a first gen. also this needs to be dependable and i know rx-7s are not the best at this. the only thing i can really do to see how good the engine is is to do a compression check. 12a's can run for about 200k right. i dont know all the much about 12a's so i will be looking around the 1st gen area, i cant wait.

You just got me thinking, and I would just like to say this. In this exact order, I went through: an 83 Accord, an 82 Rx7 GSL, 84 Toyota 4x4, 88 Rx7 SE, 87 Yamaha Fazer (fast f'ing bike!!--4 cyl., 5 valves per cylinder!), 93 Geo Metro (hey, I've got an excuse!!), 84 Rx7 GSL, 89 Toyota Supra Turbo w/ Targa top (tryin to sell), and just recently I bought a Mariah widebody 83 Rx7 GSL! (Not to mention the 4 dirt bikes I've owned!!). All that in a span of 6 years!! So, as you can see by my pattern, once you go rotary-----no matter how many times you try to go back-----you can't, and you won't want to!!
I love 'em!!!
My suggestion is to get one, and read up on 'em in the meantime!
