Dancing fuel gauge *searched*
I'll start off by saying that, yes - I did indeed search for my answer and found none.
I'm wondering: My fuel gauge dances around a LOT. On accel it drops to way below E, and stays there for quite some time. Then it bounces way up on decel, but then drops to E again. It seems to be somewhat accurate when it does register correctly though.
Can anyone explain why it's so jumpy and what I might do to correct the problem? I wish it would just display the fuel level somewhat accuratly and steady. I assume that there is some kind of float device that controls the guage needle?
TIA,
Timmy
*EDIT* And seriously - WTF is causing the green double-underlined words in my forums?!?! If I pass anywhere near them with my mouse, it pops up a stupid add that blocks what I'm reading for 10 seconds and is REALLY PISSING ME OFF! Is that a forum feature or spyware? I gotta get rid of it NOW.

TTT, any ideas guys? Is my sender bad or maybe a float?
I noticed today after I filled up that it is VERY accurate when full all the way to about half tank. After that it jumps all over the place.
And this green double-underlined crap is really starting to get to me. MAKE IT STOP!

Does this happen at certail fuel levels, or all of them? A simple test might be to sit in the car with the ignition on and engine off, and have someone rock the rear of the car from side to side, and up and down. Most complaints are about the gauge sticking, not about being hyper-active. Step 2, turn the key off and see if the needle bounces. If it does, it may be loose. Have you removed and reinstalled the needle at some point in time, do you have whitefaced gauges?

The wires to the sender rott off after years of being out in the open... darn unsealed connectors. If you still have connections left on the fuel tank just clean it and put it together... then cover it with silicone or some other sealant to keep it from corroding any farther.
On the GSL-SE's at least the fuel sender was put in the tank 60 degrees off, if u can get it out it's easier to hardwire it - just solder right to the connections. Putting the sender back in the proper position will yield a perfectly linear fuel gauge too.

All I know for certain about the fuel gauges is, with my FB and others I have driven are annoying when it comes to driving around corners. When going around a curve towards the right, the fuel gauge reads higher. Going left causes it to read lower. Going straight gives a more accurate reading. My FC fuel gauge never deviates like this.
