Damnit, My car got broken in to again!! (pic's inside)

Ok, so the first time it got broken in to, I was a Dodger Stadium, and they stole my cd player, and broke the door lock, That was about a year and a half ago.

Now, I come home from a party on sunday night around 11:00pm, go to sleep at about 12:30am. Then I wake up at 6:45, and they smashed my passenger side window, ripped out my mp3/cd player, took all the change(about $2.50)including the pennys!

Here's the cd player that I had.

Here's the damage.

Oh, well guess I gotta to the scrap yard tomorrow and get a window.

At least they didn't break a bunch of stuff in your interior trying to get the deck out. At least they were semi-courteous thieves. If there is such a thing... Apart from the broken window your car looks great! I love the paint job and the interior looks really good! Nice work! I like it!

I am defenately gonna be using Manntis' aluminium dash kit, not some cheap plastic POS.

I also backstrap EVERY stereo I install. Even the POS $40 Road Gear ones they have at Wal*Mart.

My particular stereo has an external DC/DC converter for the MiniDisc read/Write laser. My friend had the same stereo. It's supposed to stay away from the Head unit as it causes audio interferance. I Ziptied it somewhere in the dash in his Corolla and some theives cut the wires. There's one non working stereo.

I'm in the precess of relocating the stereo in my B2600 truck. Anyone who's been in a late 80's B series knows that the stereo is in a pod BELOW the dash secured by 4 screws. Remove screws and yank is all you gotta do. Take the whole pod with you.

Sorry bout the stereo and window man.

I hate that for you too. As was pointed out, the bright side is the interior and car are in good shape.

How's this for an anti theft device. Mount an in dash 8 track player in the dash, and put the real stereo under the seat. Leave an 8 track tape in the player all the time and the thieves will run away...

I don't know about that...

i had a stereo installed in another car i had and it was stolen probably within the first 2 months...it was installed correctely without extra bolting...when it was stolen there was practically no interior damage...i got a new stereo installed and this time had it bolted down more, but that only made the next crooks break the interior causing more than $1k worth of damage...

i say get an alarm and put that little flashing led in plain view...that "should" be enough to make the crook go to the next car without an alarm...

sorry to hear what happened...that sure does suck...glad to see they didn't cause any unneeded damage to your interior...

anyone tried using perspex instead of glass on your windows?? Wouldnt it make it harder for them to break in??

keyless entry + perspex windows... might be worth it if you have a lot of I.C.E. in ya car

I have a big hole where the stereo goes in my dash. Just the sound of engine is what I listen to on my 50 minute drive to work (:

That really sucks sorry to hear about the stereo and damage. To make it more resistant to break in, you would also need to somehow modify or shield the latching mechanism inside the door. Those idiots broke the glass not knowing you can unlock the doors in under 10 seconds with just a large paperclip or something similar. But if a thief sees something they want inside, they will find a way to break in.

It may be best to have the flashing alarm light, disguise/hide any valuables, and avoid parking in crime areas, if that is possible.

Hey, just like getting special (non stealable) lug nuts for wheels. Couldn't you get the same for the screws around the radio. Like, get a star or hex shaped screw end?? Something the average idiot wouldn't have in his toolbox...

That might be good for anti theft, but windows break for a reason. If you roll your car over and need to get out, usually you slide out through the broken window, or break it yourself.

Take as much precautionary steps as you can because nothing will stop a thief from stealing but the steps you take can surely slow them down. Hopefully by slowing them down you can catch them or if they see that its more difficult to break in they might just pass on your vehicle. BTW sorry to hear about your car. I had my 240sx broken into once and had my entire system stolen but whoever did it knew what they were doing because nothing was damaged. They broke in without breaking the window which is easy on those and unfortunately very easy on our cars too. It only takes about 5-10 seconds to break into our cars.

That sucks! Car stereos aren't even worth stealing anymore. How much can they sell it for $20?

Where in LA do you live?

Sorry to hear about you misfortune. It really does stink, and from what I can tell, your car is beautiful.

My brother's car was broken into last night/this morning. But since he has no interior in his car, no radio, no nothing; the theif/theives made off with only his glove box (yes they took the entire thing [nothing in it because we could never open it]) and his Cobra radar detector. They broke off the window trim behind the driver side window to get into the car, but that is about it for damage. While all of this happened, three feet away, my car was sitting there. Thankfully, they didn't touch my car, but I really don't undertand it. My brother has a '93 civic with stock paint and a bunch of dents, and my car... well... it is more "aesthetically pleasing", if you will. I guess who ever did this had something against my bro.

And, while at school today, I learned that the guy who lives one street over from me got his stereo stolen out of his truck... Dadgum theives.

no, they willll use the knife they have to bust up your interior, thieves generally will get what they want, most steps are meant to slow them from getting in, once theyre in your screwed cause that stereo is comin out one way or the other, check these out http://www.stickdeath.com/2004auto.html seems like if you could get em these would be the way to go
